Our Touch a Truck Career Day is off to a great start! The students are having a blast learning about all these cool jobs!

If you get to it first…
Friendly reminder, starting tomorrow, May 8th, our district will implement a no-charge policy for students with a negative balance in their meal accounts. Students with a negative balance will no longer be allowed to charge regular meals. Instead, they will be provided with an alternative meal, which must be paid for.
We encourage all families to review their child’s meal account balance and make any necessary payments before May 8th to avoid any disruptions in meal services.
If you need assistance or have questions about your child’s account, please contact the Child Nutrition Department.
Payments can be made at each campus's cafeteria or online at schoolcafé.com/caddomillsisd
Our 212 Collection ends this week!
212 Day at Griffis: Please see the attached flyer for grade level collections for our community and Hunt County. Our collection date will run for 2 weeks, April 28-May 9.
One of our grade levels is collecting gift cards to support CASA of Hunt County. If you feel inspired to contribute, your support would be greatly appreciated—this initiative involves a larger donation effort. It’s especially meaningful to Mrs. Colwell, who serves as a CASA advocate for Hunt County and holds this cause close to her heart.
Servant Leadership is a style of leadership that emphasizes serving others rather than prioritizing personal gain or organizational success. CMISD encourages our students to embrace the principles of servant leadership, and our Annual 212 Day is the perfect opportunity to practice this.

Attention Griffis Parents: Important Drop-Off Procedure Change for Thursday, May 8
Due to our Touch-a-Truck Career Day tomorrow, ALL STUDENTS MUST BE DROPPED OFF IN THE BACK DROP-OFF LANE BY THE CAFETERIA. Walkers and bike riders may still come through the front.
Please note that traffic on 1565 may be heavier than usual since we will be using only one drop-off lane instead of our usual two.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Our students look forward to this exciting day every year!
On Nurses Day, we want to shine a spotlight on the heart of our school—Nurse Brittney. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts ensure that our students are not only healthy but also feel safe and cared for every single day.
From soothing scraped knees to offering comforting words during tough times, you go above and beyond to support our school community. Your presence brings peace of mind to parents, students, and staff.
Thank you, Nurse Brittney, for being our everyday hero at Griffis! You are gentle and kind and we are endlessly grateful to have you with us.

Flashlight rainy day reading makes for fun reading engagement!
~Mrs. Kramer

Please help us welcome Rebekah Davis to our Griffis Team next year!

Please help us welcome Jennifer Wilson to our Griffis Team next year!

Griffis Week at a Glance: May 5-9

Friendly Reminder for Rainy Day Dismissal ☔
In the event of heavy rain at dismissal time, we will not release walkers or bike riders for safety reasons. All parents will need to use the designated car line for pick-up.
We’re sharing this early so you have time to plan ahead. During inclement weather, we double up on dismissal spots and adjust how we call students for dismissal in order to move the process along safely and efficiently.
With 675 students to dismiss, your patience and cooperation are essential—thank you for helping us keep dismissal smooth and safe for everyone!
🚨GRANT IN ACTION🚨

Today we want to take a moment to recognize someone who leads our school with heart, strength, and a whole lot of dedication—our fearless principal, Mrs . Colwell! 💙
Whether it’s greeting students with a smile each morning, supporting teachers, or making sure our campus is a safe and welcoming place for everyone, our principal goes above and beyond every single day.
Thank you for being the rock of our school, the voice of reason, and the champion for every student and staff member. Your leadership doesn’t go unnoticed—and we are so lucky to have you at the helm! YOU make Griffis great!

** Lunch on the Lawn is cancelled tomorrow, May 2nd due to the rainfall and projected forecast.**

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this afternoon’s dismissal. With 675 students to dismiss, ensuring everyone’s safety is always our top priority.
Due to the heavy rain and nearby lightning, we followed our severe weather protocol and did not release walkers or bike riders. Instead, we asked all families to use the designated car line for pickup. Managing two dismissal locations, plus calling walkers individually, is not feasible during inclement weather.
We understand that these last-minute decisions may be inconvenient, but they are made with your children’s safety in mind. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Mrs. Willhoit’s class had a blast building paper airplanes! We set up a paper airplane assembly line to see how they’re made and how assembly lines work. Lots of fun and flying in the air! ✈️

Important Weather Update
As we continue to monitor the weather, please be advised that there may be delays in bus routes due to possible flooded roads. Our transportation team is actively communicating with parents and guardians of those who may be affected.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety of our students. Stay safe and informed!
