This past weekend, the Speech & Debate Team competed at Rock Hill High School. This weekend was a marathon as the team competed in 2 tournaments over the course of Friday and Saturday. Riley Stout placed 2nd in Informative speaking for the first tournament and 4th for the second tournament. Morgan Fox advanced to finals in Prose Interpretation but had to leave the tournament early in order to perform for the Drill Team in the Christmas Parade, earning herself a 6th place medal. Another member of the Drill Team (also leaving early) was Kamdyn Mathews. But before leaving, Kamdyn and her partner in Policy Debate, Jessica Jenkins advanced to the Semi-final round, placing 4th overall. And Kamdyn was the 2nd top speaker for the whole tournament. Congratulations to this well-rounded team!

From Dr. Whaley: "We collected 1,951 cards for the troops all of our campuses! It was so heart warming to see all the love and thoughtfulness put into making the cards. A huge thank you to all that turned in cards and a big shout out to my mother-in-law for taking them to the radio station." Thanks to everyone that took time to be a part of this effort! Shout out to Dr. Whaley for facilitating and executing this for our troops!

Today there was a Murder Mystery Dinner Party in Mrs. Hall's English II classes to end their drama unit. The kids sharpened their inferencing skills to figure out who among them was the murderer. The kids really enjoyed this hands-on lesson and the food was a nice bonus!! Way to go, Mrs. Hall!

November 10th-13th, the Sly Fox Theatre Company traveled to compete and participate in the Texas Thespian Festival in San Antonio. Nine students performed in solo musical performance and monologue acting, competing with over a thousand other students from across Texas. Lauren Kansy, Addison Wells and Judith Fruth all received superior ratings qualifying them to participate in the National Thespian Festival this summer in Indiana. This was the first year CHS students have participated in the Texas Thespian Festival and what a splash they've made into the theatre world!
