Gifted and Talented

Caddo Mills Independent School District recognizes the individual differences in abilities, needs, and interests of the school population it serves. A sound instructional program for Caddo Mills ISD students includes provision for gifted and talented students. These students can benefit from instruction that develops and challenges their unique capabilities in an atmosphere that fosters creativity and productivity. Recognizing that gifted students possess distinct characteristics and needs, CMISD commits itself to providing a quality, optimal educational experience for each gifted and talented student.

Definition - Gifted/Talented Students

Chapter 29 of the Texas Education Code defines gifted and talented as "a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who: (1) exhibits high-performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area; (2) possesses an unusual capacity for leadership, or (3) excels in a specific academic field."
