WHAT IS A SCHOOL COUNSELOR?
A School Counselor is a certified, trained, and caring professional that assists students with acquiring skills they need to enhance their personal, social, and educational development. Some of the areas that I will focus on will include self-confidence, motivation to achieve, goal setting, problem solving, bullying, communication, responsible behavior and much more!
What Services can a School Counselor offer?
I provide many services at school. Some of these services include the following:
Classroom Guidance:
Guidance enables me to cast a wide net and present lessons to the students while in his or her classroom. These lessons will focus a big percentage on character development. Occasionally, I will send home a family/home activity for you to complete with your child. This is a great way to reinforce these important skills. Most importantly, it insures that you play a vital role in your child's character education!
Small Group Counseling:
Group sessions enable me to facilitate positive improvement with students who share similar issues and concerns. These sessions are confidential with the exception of an individaul student making an outcry of self-harm or threat to him or herself or others. and parent/guardian permission slips
Individual Counseling:
In some situations, a student may need a one on one counseling session in my office. This session will be confidential in nature. Please keep in mind that school counseling is a short term resource. When a student requires more in depth attention, I will reach out to his or guardian to extend outside community resources/agencies.
